Originally inspired by the image of Bobby Wellins dating from 2005, this collection of photographs is drawn from a portfolio compiled over half a decade. Although the images are essentially documentary, the intention is also to capture the artists' emotions, and the intimate relationship with their chosen instrument or form of expression.

Most of the images were taken at various venues in the North West of England, including the Southport Melodic Jazz Club where the organisers and members have been very supportive.

Many of the images have been exhibited at jazz events and international photographic exhibitions.
